The NFL Network is offering up a pair of medicinal plants to NFL fans this week, the NFL’s wild medicinal product program and a pair to players for the NFLPA.
The NFL announced the program, which began with the sale of the NFL and NFLPA’s marijuana joint last summer, will include a wild medicinal marijuana plant from the Caracola Planta, a medicinal plant native to the island of the same name in the Western Atlantic Ocean.
The program is designed to be a one-time-only opportunity for NFL fans, but the league hopes it will be a boon to players who are looking to reduce their dependence on marijuana.
According to NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, the Carafan, which is indigenous to the Caribbean, has medicinal properties that have been shown to help relieve a variety of conditions including pain, epilepsy, glaucoma and rheumatoid arthritis.
“This plant is incredibly important for people with conditions like fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis and other chronic pain conditions,” Smith said.
“The plant has also been shown in animal studies to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, HIV and Crohn’s disease.”
“The Caracana Planta has proven itself in clinical trials and is currently being used in the treatment of patients with pain, nausea, insomnia and more,” Smith continued.
“This plant has been proven to be effective in treating several chronic pain syndromes including arthritis, fibromyalgic disease and chronic pain.”
Caracanas medicinal properties are a natural alternative to pharmaceutical drugs.
They are also incredibly safe and effective for people who have taken other pain medications.””
With the approval of the CARACANA PLANT, players and teams are eligible to participate in the CARAFL program,” the NFL said in a release. “
As a result of the research, Caracanas proprietary cannabinoid receptor has been identified in the body, which can alleviate pain in chronic pain patients, and it is now being used to treat a variety and complex pain syndromyalgia conditions.”
“With the approval of the CARACANA PLANT, players and teams are eligible to participate in the CARAFL program,” the NFL said in a release.
“Caracetans CBD oil and CBD powder will be available in stores and online starting Thursday, May 18.”
Smith said the NFL was excited to have a wild medical plant from its Caribbean region, and said the program was designed to help players and coaches “be proactive and avoid the temptation to use cannabis or any other drug.”
“We are thrilled to have this plant for our players to benefit from as part of the program,” Smith told NFL.com.
“It will also be an exciting opportunity for players and fans to get involved in this exciting and growing movement for medical marijuana in America.”
